Forgetting...generally associated with an event, person or a thing. When we think about forgetting ourselves we associate it with memory loss due to brain injury or Alzheimer's etc.
When I talk about forgetting myself here, I think about the amount of time I am spending with myself, the amount of time I am engaging in activities that I engage in, and the amount of times I am spending with myself without thinking about work or of others

Today I feel we are just running around like the hands of the clock, there is no pause in between. We are often stressed and have lots of work piled up. There is no or very little time left just for our own self.
When we go back to our childhood we have beautiful memories like many of us would look in the mirror and greet ourselves and give a big smile but now it's forgotten. Earlier, we used to love exploring things that interested us but now we don't do things we know we love. Before we used to express how we feel- I am happy, I am sad, I don't like this etc. Now there is even a lack of acknowledgement of how I feel.
The little bird used to fly around before. The bird now doesn't have time so has stopped flying completely. It's the time the bird should flap its wings and fly for a while before it forgets to fly completely.
Spending some time with ourselves gives us a space for personal growth, it helps us discover our strengths which we can be proud of, helps us recognize our sensitive areas and gives us lots of memories of our face with a smile and satisfaction.
To connect with oneself one can spend some time doing tasks that interest them, hobbies, spend some time with self, ask how was your day, complimenting and appreciating oneself, acknowledging things to be worked on. Therapy is also a safe space for self- exploration. Written by Jenny Dedhia
